Around the centre portion of the tower are three canopied niches which originally held statues or monuments, one on each outward facing angle, four in all.
Alcoves
The south wall gives only an impression of the quality of the stonework. The basic structure is brick with a fine stone cladding, some of which has come off the brick base.
